The Gallatin Gallop is a qualifying event for the
2008 USSSA National Championships
for the USSSA Rocky Mountain region.
Top finishers in the 10K event will qualify to compete in the 2008 USSSA National Showshoe Championships at Snowbasin,
Utah in March. This year, the USSSA Championships are part of the XTERRA Winter World Championships, which run March 7-9, and include
a winter multi-sport race and citizen snowshoe races, in addition to the USSSA event. After this year, it'll be five years before the USSSA Championships
return to the Rocky Mountain region, so take advantage of these events taking place within driving distance of Montana! For more on the XTERRA
happenings, check out the brochure in your race packet, or go to the XTERRA Winter web site.
Juniors (age 19 and below) may qualify for the National Junior Championships by finishing at the top
of the 5K event.
For specifics on how to qualify for the USSSA Nationals, see the
USSSA web site.
It is particularly important to note that aspiring Nationals qualifiers must be USSSA members before participating in the race! USSSA
membership is available through the USSSA website (select an option under the
Join the USSSA link on the left side of the page),
or memberships may be purchased on race day at registration at Bohart Ranch. Racers do NOT have to be USSSA members in order to race, but racers
who are not members will not be eligible to qualify for the National Championships.
